About
Gertie and Fran was born out of a love for the little details - the ones so often overlooked, yet without them, the whole wouldn’t feel quite the same. Lace, embroidery, folk costumes, and views of nature are what bring charm and sensitivity to everything.
Our founder, Basia, wants to invite you into a world where quality meets history. To share her passion for hunting treasures at flea markets, as well as her love for the Polish countryside that inspires her work. And it’s there, on those village paths and antique fairs, where it all began.
Will next generations inherit high-quality, beautiful pieces made from natural materials and crafted with care in small batches? Or are we destined to leave behind only synthetic fabrics and mass production?
Our goal is to show that production in Europe, and right here in Poland, is not only possible, but worth fighting for.
Our production
Our production takes place in central Poland. Every product is either entirely handmade or partially crafted by hand. We use natural materials such as European linen and alpaca wool.
We don’t follow trends. Everything we make is produced on a small scale and without rush. Because really - what’s the hurry? The world is already moving fast enough.
If something is sold out on the website, we take pre-orders. And if there’s enough interest, we’ll create another batch.
If you saw something you liked and it’s no longer available - just let us know!
We also offer vintage and antique pieces on the site. In our opinion, this combination-something old and something new, is the perfect match.
Why "GERTIE & FRAN"?
Gertie - Gertruda - was the great-great-great-grandmother of our founder, Basia. She came from Silesia, a region in Poland that, just 30 - 40 years ago, was still home to a vibrant linen industry.
Fran - Franciszek - is Basia’s grandfather. His courage carved out paths for future generations.
This business is our way of saying thank you. A quiet tribute to those who came before us.
